Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used and shared when you visit or make a purchase from ellie-works.com (the “Site”). The Site is operated by Ellie Works (“we”, “us”, “our”), which is the data controller for the information described here. You can contact us at info@ellie-works.com.

Personal information we collect

Device Information. When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including your web browser, IP address, time zone and some of the cookies installed on your device. As you browse, we also collect information about the pages or products you view, the websites or search terms that referred you to the Site, and how you interact with it. We collect Device Information using these technologies:

  • “Cookies” are data files placed on your device or computer that often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, visit allaboutcookies.org.
  • “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site and collect data including your IP address, browser type, internet service provider, referring/exit pages and date/time stamps.
  • “Web beacons”, “tags” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.

Order Information. When you make or attempt to make a purchase, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, email address, phone number (if requested) and the details of your order. Your payment details are entered directly with our payment providers (WooPayments, powered by Stripe, and PayPal); we do not store your full card number on our servers.

Messages. If you email us, we keep the correspondence so we can help you.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this policy, we mean Device Information, Order Information and the messages you send us.

How we use your personal information

We use Order Information to deliver your digital products and give you access to them (including order confirmations and download or access links), to process payments, to provide receipts and invoices, and to communicate with you about your order and support requests. We also use it to:

  • screen orders for potential risk or fraud; and
  • where it is in line with the preferences you have shared with us (or where you have given consent), send you information or advertising about our products.

We use Device Information to help us screen for risk and fraud (in particular your IP address) and, more generally, to improve and optimize the Site — for example by generating analytics about how visitors browse and interact with it, and by measuring the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns.

Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your Personal Information on these legal bases: to perform our contract with you (for example when you buy a product); to pursue our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, running and improving the Site, and measuring our marketing); with your consent where it is required (for example for non-essential cookies or marketing emails — you can withdraw consent at any time); and to comply with legal obligations (for example tax and accounting rules).

Sharing your personal information

We share your Personal Information with service providers that help us run the Site and deliver our products, such as our website and e-commerce platform (WordPress and WooCommerce), our payment providers (WooPayments, powered by Stripe, and PayPal) and our email delivery providers.

We use Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the Site. You can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information at policies.google.com/privacy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

We use Meta (Facebook and Instagram) business tools, such as the Meta Pixel, to measure and optimize our advertising and to show relevant ads. You can learn more about how Meta uses information at facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Finally, we may share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information, or to otherwise protect our rights.

Cookies

The Site uses essential cookies (for example to keep your cart and checkout working), analytics cookies and advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the Site, such as the cart and checkout, may not work without essential cookies.

Behavioral advertising

As described above, we may use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may interest you. For more information about how targeted advertising works, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative’s (“NAI”) educational page at networkadvertising.org. You can opt out of targeted advertising by using these links:

You can also opt out of some of these services through the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out portal at optout.aboutads.info.

Do not track

Please note that we do not alter our Site’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.

Your rights

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to ask that it be corrected, updated or deleted. You may also ask us to restrict or object to certain processing, to receive your data in a portable format, and to withdraw consent you have given. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@ellie-works.com. We will reply within the time required by law (generally one month). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, garanteprivacy.it).

International transfers

Our service providers may process your information outside your country, including in the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

Data retention

When you place an order through the Site, we keep your Order Information for as long as needed to fulfill the order, provide support and meet our legal and accounting obligations, and then delete or anonymize it. You can ask us to delete your information at any time; we will do so unless the law requires us to keep it. Marketing preferences are kept until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your Personal Information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
